Ayesha Takia is making waves for all the right reasons - she's spunky, she's saucy and she's a head-turner. So what if she is just two films old? She is still one of the most talked-about newcomers in recent times.
After the dismal show of Taarzan - the Wondercar at the box-office, Ayesha has pinned all her hopes on Dil Maange More and Socha Na Tha. At 19, Ayesha's thoughts on marriage and relationships belie her age... her optimism and faith in life also makes her a very positive person.
Excerpts from a candid interview:
Socha Na Tha will be liked for its simplicity:
Socha Na Tha is very close to my heart as it was supposed to be my debut film. The director Imtiaz Ali is a close friend and also very good at his work - I am looking forward to it. I must add that I have high expectations from this film -- I expect people to appreciate the film for its simplicity. I feel people are tired of item numbers and they will like watching a fresh love story with a simple story and a strong emotional tenor. I signed the film when I was only 16 but the film got delayed. I am playing a 24-year old girl character who is wild, yet she cannot portray what she is. The circumstances in her life don't allow her to live her life the way she wants to.
Dil Maange More:
Director Ananth Mahadevan approached me for this role and he also mentioned that they were looking for my phone number for over a month and could not trace it. Thankfully for me they did find my number and came to me for the narration (smiles). Initially, I was a bit skeptical, as there were three girls in the film, but I really liked it after I heard the script. I love the name of my character 'Shagun'. I play an arrogant fashion designer who keeps quarrelling with everyone. She stays with her mom and doesn't trust the male species as her father had left her mother for another woman many years ago. At the same time she is a softhearted girl and wants to be loved.
I am not insecure:
I am not insecure at all and was very happy working with my costars Soha Ali Khan and Tulip Joshi in the film. I don't have a problem with anyone.
On her co-stars:
Working with Shahid Kapoor was great fun -- he is very talented and it's always nice to work with talented people as it keeps you on your toes. I am very competitive and if someone is better, it motivates me. It was a cool experience and I have no complaints.
Vatsal Seth is a very sweet boy. Taarzan was his first release as well and he was very excited and enthusiastic about it - we are different individuals, but still share a great working relationship. I don't get along well with Abhay Deol (her co-star in Socha Na Tha).
Faith keeps relationships going:
Marriage is not about age:
I don't think I will get married anytime soon, as I am only 19-years old. But yes, I do think about these things; according to me marriage is not about age. One should marry when one is ready for it and I don't think I am ready for marriage right now.

No live-in relationships for me
I don't believe in live-in relationships and they are definitely not for me. However, I am not against it, if it works out for someone then it's great. Similarly, if marriage works out for someone it is great and if anyone is not comfortable with marriage then it is his choice not to opt for it. I think it is a very personal decision, which should be made as the individual's temperament.
